Footy’s next major international tournament is just around the corner, so we wanted to take a look at what group England will be in at Euro 2024. Drawn into Group C against Serbia, Slovenia and Denmark, the Three Lions could face some tricky tests against a number of seasoned international stars. All three teams qualified relatively easily, with Slovenia and Denmark sharing the top spot in their qualifying group, so confidence will be high heading into Germany this Summer.

Serbia
Serbia are through to their first ever Euros – if you don’t count the rather confusing past when they were part of Yugoslavia, FR Yugoslavia or called Serbia and Montenegro – but discount them at your peril. Aleksandar Mitrović, Dušan Tadić and Saša Lukić will all be pretty well-known names to those who follow the Premier League, and their squad has quality throughout in the form of Dušan Vlahović, Sergej Milinković-Savić and Filip Kostić to name a few.
At the World Cup we saw them score plenty, but concede just a few more – but against slightly weaker opposition at the Euros we could see them keeping it tighter at the back. They tend to line up in an attacking 3-5-2 formation, with attacking wing-backs and a solid, physical core. If their key players stay fit, we reckon they could go through ahead of an inconsistent Danish side.

Belushi’s Group Prediction: 2nd
Denmark
Denmark are a team that the England players and manager will know well, having beaten them after extra time in the Semis of Euro 2020. They’ve got plenty of quality in a strong (but let’s be honest, old) starting XI, and you can’t really count them out of the group because of this – ahem – “experience”.
They completely failed at the World Cup in Qatar, failing to win against Tunisia and then losing to France and Australia, and their form hasn’t really improved since. In qualifying for the Euros, they lost to Kazakhstan and Northern Ireland, and only just beat San Marino. It’s tough to call second place between Denmark and Serbia, but we reckon the Danish might struggle to score (and will rely heavily on golden boy Højlund to step up to the plate internationally). You heard it here first – Denmark to finish third!

Belushi’s Group Prediction: 3rd
Slovenia
Slovenia are definitely the dark horses of Group C, and to be honest we feel a bit bad saying they’ll finish bottom. They’ve had some pretty stunning results in friendlies recently, beating the US and even Portugal thanks to solid team performances rather than any individual brilliance, so there’s no reason why they can’t go toe-to-toe with England even.
Jan Oblak and Benjamin Sesko are the best-known names in the squad, but look out for their midfielders Cerin and Elsnik, who have been putting in some solid performances together over the past year. Slovenia are ranked 57th in the world, but with a young squad and a world-class goalie, they could shock us. We’re still putting them 4th though…
